coastal urbanization challenges

The Alabama Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society invites you to Coastal Urbanization Challenges. The conference will be held at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Alabama from May 1-3, 2024.

Conference registration for attendees and vendors paying with credit card will take place online through this Eventbrite.com webpage. The full conference agenda and additional information for vendors and sponsors is posted below. The deadline for early-bird registration is Wednesday, April 24, 2024. After that, registration at the full registration rate will be available.

To Register:

1. Everyone should register through EventBrite: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER 
2. If you would like to pay by check there is a "free registration" option in EventBrite. 
   • Fill out the Registration Form (for payment by check).
   • Mail the registration form and payment to AL SWCS, PO Box 116, Auburn, AL 36830-0116.
3. Sponsorship Information: If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities, you can either submit them through EventBrite or by mail.

Final Agenda

Continuing Education and Professional Development: The conference provides a high quality workshop, technical sessions, and a field trip that is relevant to Professional Engineers, Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Crop Advisors, Landscape Architects, and Professional Geologists.

The following Continuing Education Units and Professional Develop Hours are available based on contact hours:

• For CCA's, there are 3 CEUs available on May 1, 4.5 CEUs on May 2, and 2.5 CEUs on May 3 (10 total).
• For CPESC's, there are 3 PDUs available on May 1, 4 PDUs on May 2, and 2 PDUs on May 3 (9 total).
• For PE's and PG's, there are 3 PDHs available on May 1, 4 PDHs on May 2, and 2 PDHs on May 3 (9 total).
• For Foresters, there are 8.5 CEUs available for attending the full conference.

The government rate is $164 per night. There are other hotels available if there are not rooms at the four listed above.

Hotel rooms in south Baldwin County will not reserve a block of rooms this time of the year due to demand as well as other major events in the area. There are rooms available in Foley for the government rate, but they will fill up quickly the closer we get. Currently there are multiple rooms that will provide the government rate as well as other local hotels with rates less than the government rate. We advise you to book your rooms as soon as possible.

SILENT AUCTION: Proceeds will to the SWCS student chapters at Alabama A&M and Tuskegee University. If you or your company/organization is willing to donate items to the silent auction, please bring items on May 1.
